I just wanted to do a quick shout out to everyone that has supported our business. Friends, family and above all – our loyal customers. We hit 10,000 orders on our Etsy shop on August 29th at 3:45PM and we couldn’t be more ecstatic!
It’s not just a huge milestone showing how busy we are. It’s truly a labor of love and was and is always about giving back. To our community, to our customers and to the organizations we care about.
Our 10,000th order came in from Breanne L. of Kansas and it’s every day orders like hers that make it possible for us to have and run a small business. So to thank her and show our appreciation of everyone that places an order and chooses to shop small and handmade we:
- refunded her order in full
- gave her a $100 gift certificate for a future purchase
- AND in honor of the milestone we’re giving an additional $100 to The Turks and Caicos Society for Prevention and Cruelty to Animals, whom we support at year end each year.
This humane society is in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos and works hard to keep the island animals safe and healthy. Without outside support, they wouldn’t be able to do the work that they do. T.C.S.P.C.A. is just one of the organizations we give to and the reason we picked them is because Providenciales, Turks and Caicos is the island that we married on and inspired me to create this business. (We’re also crazy obsessed with dogs). You can read the story on how we got started here.
From the time I started this business, I have always felt compelled to give. I personally didn’t come from much and having worked hard my entire life, I always appreciated when other people helped me out.
So when I had the opportunity to help others, I was grateful and glad to do it. It’s become a huge part of how we run our business. Each year we give a percentage to T.C.S.P.C.A. and to Animal Friends and/or the Western Pa Humane Society, both in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
In addition to our favorite animal organizations, we also participate in year round donations and events for a variety of other causes, such as the American Diabetes Association, various Pittsburgh organizations and pro bono work.
I couldn’t be more happy right now and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to create art for people all over the world. Knowing that we are helping couples express their love, celebrate their marriage and create new adventures together makes working on each request incredibly meaningful. I really do love to hear the stories of how people met, where life took them and why they are celebrating.
